Hey Tepeyac students! If you are looking for a way to get more involved with OLT while having fun, join one, or even all, of the school clubs! Tepeyac Clubs are offered by teachers, but contrary to classes, clubs are for enjoyment and socializing with people of different grades whom you might not get to talk to otherwise. An example of a fun and social club, is the Environmental Club that is offered by Sister Grace. This club is not only a chance to socialize and come out of your comfort zone, but it is a chance to make a real impact on an issue of such great social and political importance.
When interview, Sister Grace exclaimed, "At the end of this month as a club we are going to see the movie Avatar!" Avatar is a movie about the environment and how everything in the world is connected. Sister Grace greatly encourages students to participate in the Environmental Club, which is in charge of recycling at school, as well as encouraging recycling in their homes. The Environmental Club meets on Wednesdays after school, so if you have been thinking about joining a club, stop contemplating, and get up and go see what it is all about!
The school also has a variety of different clubs including but not limited to: Drama Club with Ms. S., Digital Media with Mr. Mac, Student Council with Ms. Cesario, Homework Club with Ms. Noonan, Art Club with Mrs. Mary, Choir with Ms. Jamieson, and Chicago City Club with Ms. Stephens, all of which will be profiled in articles to come. Until then, you should go to a meeting of the club that interests you because you are sure to find a club that is perfect for you!
