Tepeyac High School girls were very generous last week and this week. Thursday January 21st the National Honor Society held a nacho cheese sale. "We had nacho cheese with ground beef or just nachos with cheese, chips with cheese, and pop," says Jackie H. The money raised was between $200 and$250. "This was being raised for the Barajas family," stated Jackie H. Mireya explains that this was the first time this year that "Our Lady of Tepeyac High School helped an alumnae in need. . This graduate student received a liver transplant from her brother. Her brother had been shot and killed to death in hisPilsen neighborhood. So this money that is raised was to help that family out. Another big event that many of us have heard about was the earthquake in Haiti. On Friday, January 22nd the "student council' had a dress down day. If you wanted to dress down you had to pay two dollars. Also, the detention money that was collected for Friday's detention was put towards the Haiti money. The High School "Approximately $500 was raised to support theeffort in Haiti." On Tuesday January 26th student council will be hosting a bake sale. This bake sale money will also go to Haiti. "I hope we make a good profit because Haiti really needs our help" says Valeria S. The National Honor Society and student council.
