Spirit week Info OLT!

The Fun, entertaining, enjoyable, and amusing activities we are having during spirit week. Everyone in the high school is involved in this fun filled week. The week of May 2, 2011 until May 6, 2011 is spirit week. On Monday May 2, 2011 is Pajama day. The students can wear their comfy pajamas to school but it has to be appropriate. May 3, 2011 we will be having a carnival and its also twin day the students get to dress up as twin or triplets. May 4, 2011 is sports day the students will be heading to the park for a picnic and sports. May 5, 2011 is back to the future day the students dress up in styles from the past. The most common decades are the 60’s threw the 90’s. That day we will be having a talent show. The seniors and Juniors like the talent show because they can impersonate the teachers. May 6, 2011 is the Walk-A-Thon the whole school goes to the Shedd Aquarium on buses and from there the school walks to the Lincoln Park Zoo. The Walk-A-Thon is to help raise money for the Food Pantry.

St. Louis Survivs a Tornado!

A tornado hit the Midwest damaging close to 3,000 buildings caused the city's airport to close down, and nobody died. The tornado had hit St. Louis, Missouri destroying about 200 homes, 35 businesses, and churches. The tornado had a total of 2,7000 buildings. Everything was completely gone!

Punk Icon dead at 53

Marianne Joan Elliot- Said (poly Styrene) died on April 25, 2011 after batteling cancer.She was 53 years old. She was born in England in 1957, and she formed th band X-ray Spex. The band relesed many singles, and one album. in the early-90's she inspired a generation of female rockers.

April many days off!

Spring break at OLT is usually sooner than other schools, but we do get many days of during April. The students at OLT spring break is the week of March 21, 2011 until March 28, 2011. Many of the student’s friends are still attending school. The good thing is that in April they get many days of April 1st, 7Th, 8Th, 22Nd, and 25Th. They’re like mini spring breaks during April. The students get to relax after the busy March month and before the crazy May month. The students get re-energized for spirit week the first week of May. The students like all these days off in April. Who wouldn’t? Even the teachers enjoy them, not having to deal with the students.

Spirit Week

The first week of May is a week of bonding for the students at Our Lady of Tepeyac. The first week of May is spirit week and everyone is excited. There is one change that everyone is worried and upset about. It is that we won’t be able to leave the school on any Spirit week related field trips. We instead will stay in the school for all events except for the annual walk-a-thon.During the walk we walk from the Shed to the Zoo. Everyones shirts for the walk-a-thon are already in. The fee for spirit week is $12.

Easter Break

Happy Easter!!!

The students and staff of Tepeyac will have a four day weekend to enjoy, with there family and friends. Everyone can celebrate whether it’s spending time with family, hunting for eggs, going to church, or just being at home and just siting back to relax. Easter break will start Friday, April 22, 2011 - and will end Monday, April 25, 2011. We will be returning to school on Tuesday April 26Th.

Charlie Sheen Goes To court To Win Custody Of His Kid

Actor Charlie Sheen is expected to appear in court Tuesday April 26,2011, to request full custody of his two year old twin boys, from his wife Brooke Mueller. Brooke Mueller has suffered a drug relapse and is unfit to care for their kids. So, Charlie has a bigger chance on gaining custody of the kids after the hearing. Last Friday, Brooke refused a drug test, even though it was required under the terms of her custody settlement. Let’s wait and see who gains custody of the children.

Eminem's big win

On April 15, 2011 the famous rapper Eminem won three awards at the Detroit music awards for an Outstanding National Major label recording for his 2010 album “ Recovery”, and his other album “ Not Afraid” won the Outstanding National Single and Outstanding Video/Major Budget honors. His fans are very happy that he won those award, especially since he won them in his home town.

Easter Timeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Easter is always the best time of the year. We get a four day weekend. One great event that will take place before Easter break is a school wide scavenger hunt. We have the opportunity to watch movies afterwards. Inside of the eggs, that we will be searching for, is candy or a special prize for you and or your entire class. Last year the juniors, seniors this year, won a variety of things such as out of uniform day, and a pizza party. So, this year the juniors will try to win.

On Friday, April 15,2011 the new edition of Scream will be released. Most people are frighten by Slash. Rather it be the mask or the fact that you can die by answering the phone, people are terrified to see scream. Critics are saying that it’s the best edition of Scream yet, the movie has the original characters as well as new characters.The rating is R so unless your 17 years or[a] older than you can’t go see the movies unless your accompanied by an adult.

Tepeyac Softball

Home run! Do you love baseball or softball? Come see the softball team play. There are two games next week, Wednesday, April 20, 2011 and Thursday, April 21, 2011. The Wednesday game will be an away game at Livingston Park at 4:30 pm. The Thursday game will be a home game at Union Park, also at 4:30pm. The softball team will be playing Hope Academy on Wednesday and Providence Saint Mel High School on Thursday. So come out and support your fellow classmates. Go Tigers!

Selena Gomez was spotted "hanging out" with her ex-boyfriend, Nick Jonas, despite the fact that she is in a relationship with teen heartthrob, Justin Beiber. While Justin may have landed in Israel ahead of his “My World gig” in the country, his girlfriend Selena has been seen with the Jonas Brother star, who she dated back in 2010. Selena had said this: "I try to be a good person and a good friend to people. That’s something that’s very important to me. Nick is a very good friend. He’s a lovely guy, we’re good friends and I enjoy his company!”

We wonder what Justin Bieber would say about this! Selena and Nick's meeting has filled up reports that she has decided to "cool things" with Justin after this whole incident.

Toni Braxton is doing a reality show to prove that she is not only a songstress and a legendary diva. The six time Grammy winner headlines the new series "Braxton Family Values". The show will be held on Tuesdays from nine to eight o'clock central on WE TV. The TV series will show the bonding and bickering between her siblings. Her younger siblings that will be on the reality show are Towanda, Trina, Tamar, Traci, and their mother Evelyn.

Britney Spears and Nicki Minaj on stage together this summer. Nicki Minaj is the official special guest on the femme fatal tour. The tour starts in Sacramento, California and ends in Toronto. It begins on June 16,2011 and ends on August 13,2011. Tickets will be on sale in select ticket markets on April 30, 2011. Enrique Iglesias decide not to go on tour hours after Britney announced it on " Good Morning America". Britney's and Nicki's fans must be very excited that they are both going to be on stage together, for the first time.

If If you think somethings in life are impossible then watch soul surfer it will help you think things over. Some characters in this movie are played by Anna Sophia Robb, Denis Quaid, Helen hunt, and much more. the movie is a young girl that has an accident while surfing but that is all i am saying don't want to spoil the movie. the movie will be released in theaters nation wide, it will be released on Friday April 8, 2011. the story is very inspiring it teaches that no matter what never back down of what you want in life. people say that it is a good movie with a very nice message to it.

Snooki Verus Toni Morrison

Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi pocketed $32,000 on Thursday for speaking at Rutgers University, a fee that's $2,000 more than Nobel Prize–winning novelist Toni Morrison will be paid for this year's Rutgers commencement speech. Snooki said "When you're tan, you feel better about yourself," and, "Study hard, but party harder." Morrison commented "I don't know her, and I don't care," Snooki's high fee has been met with criticism by students and press. We're not sure who's really that surprised by this news, but to settle the controversy, Rutgers should just have the two women speak on a panel together.

Are Justin Timberlake and Olivia Wilde Dating ?

Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel split up less than a month ago but he is already out getting his drinkings and flirting with fellow Hollywood hottie Olivia Wilde. According to People Magazine, the pair was spotted at Hollywood club, the Roxbury, on Saturday night. They reportedly wore white t-shirts and drank vodka in the VIP section until 1 am before moving to the patio so Justin Timberlake so he could listen to hip hop. They left together at 3 a.m. They are now seen on the daily basis together. Who knows what they have they have going on but they both seem pretty happy!

THE FOLLOWING WEEK IS EASTER BREAK SO WE WILL HAVE FRIDAY AND THE FOLLOWING MONDAY OFF . WHEN WE RETURN IT WILL ALL READY BE TIME FOR PROGRESS REPORTS. AND IF YOU MISS FOUR DAYS YOUR GRADE WILL DROP. We love 2 Help

Our Lady of Tepeyac is all about helping and loving one another. We do not just help each other, we help others. Last week we raised $200 for the make a wish foundation. Being the helpful people we are, Tepeyac will have an out of uniform day and we have to pay two dollars, then we will give them what we have earned, to show we care, and our generosity. This week we plan on raising money for Japan After the Tsunami it has been rough for the Japanese people to sustain a decent living. The Tsunami happened on March 11, 2011. "The amount of water is enormous, and we need any wisdom available," said nuclear safety agency spokesman Hidehiko Nishiyama.

ACT test is coming up!

The juniors are going to need a lot of brainpower. The juniors are going to take the ACT test soon. The girls have taken the ACT class to improve their test taking skills, now they have to put those skills to the test. They have also practiced for the ACT during advisory and chemistry class. The juniors have been getting a lot of help preparing for the ACT. The juniors have signed up to take the ACT at various high schools such as: Maria high school, Gordon Tech high school, and Hales high school. The ACT will take place April 9, 2011 at 9 am until 12 pm. The test is four hours long it includes Writing, English, Math, Reading, and Science. Students should get a good night sleep and eat breakfast. The ACT is very important because colleges look at what the junior’s scores were. The girls are nervous about the test but they are going to do their best.

Senior Fundraiser

Attention Our Lady of Tepeyac, the class of 2011 need your help. They had a fundraiser to raise money for their prom. The fundraiser took place at Our Lady of Tepeyac High School on March 31, 2011. The seniors sold Italian beef, pop, and chips. They also had a cookie sale. This happened during lunch a and lunch b. So help support the seniors as they prepare for prom. The seniors greatly appreciated your help. They raised over two hundred dollars.
