Spring Dance at Tepeyac

On Friday, February 18, 2011 everyone prepared to dance the night away. The students and staff members of Our Lady of Tepeyac worked hard to prepare for the school’s annual spring dance. They decorated the lunch room, set up a concession stand and decorated the entrance. DJ Sigma was a great addition to the dance. His music made everyone dance the entire night, with few breaks. Everyone had a great time even though it was not as big of a turn out as Tepeyac’s last dance. I am glad that I was a part of Tepeyac’s last dance for the year. The night was truly fun-filled and we could not have done it all without the help of our students and staff.

club day

With the snow day and the half-of-days we have not had a club day in a while.Today we will finally have club day. After lunch everyone in the school is asked to report to her assigned classroom. The sports club will go outside or to the gym depending on the weather conditions. The Fashion club will watch “The Devil Wear Prada. The cooking club will learn new ways to make delicious dishes, The dram club will explore their emotions and the board game club will explore new and fun games. Some students do not like club day because they feel as if it takes away from their usual Wednesday routine. Some students like it because it gives them a chance to be apart of the school.

Science Fair

The girls at Our Lady of Tepeyac are being scientists for the science fair. The sophomores, juniors, and seniors are involved in the science fair. The sophomores, juniors and seniors had to develop an experiment for biology, chemistry, anatomy, and physics class. The students were divided into groups of two or three students and they have been working on their experiments for several weeks now. The science fair takes place at Our Lady of Tepeyac high school in the lunchroom, 201, 101, and 102, on February 26, 2011 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. The science fair occurs because it’s a big percentage of our grade for third quarter. The teachers are excited to see what experiments the students conducted. Ms. Stephens and Ms. Cesario are the most excited teachers of them all.

Spring Break

The best time of the year is spring break. Every student enjoys their spring break in their own way. It is a time of freedom and relaxation. Some friends will be together and some will not. The ones who will not be with their friends will be missed until they return. Some people will spend their time on the beaches and others may stay inside. Some students will even spend time with their boyfriends while others spend time with their family. Tepeyac girls will be all around the world. Some will be in Chicago, Texas, Atlanta, Florida, Washington D.C, Michigan, Tennessee and even Mexico. Spring break will be taking place on March 18 through March 28. Spring break takes place because students need a break after a long third quarter. This time of year always brings excitement to the students. Even though our spring break is earlier this year we will enjoy ourselves.

Never say NEVER !

Just last week on Valentines day, Justin Bieber went big! The 16 year old kid has been very successful so far just last week he's new movie "Never say never" came out in all theaters. Over 2,600 tickets were sold that same day the movie came out. I personally went to watch the movie and it was great. It was very emotional so if your an emotional person this is the great movie to go and watch. Never Say Never is what you can call a concert film as glorified promotional product, but it captures a genuine youthquake. It follows Justin everywhere! Behind the scene footage. You learn a lot about Bieber by watching this movie you learn where he's from and you also get know what kind of family he came from. You get to see how he became who he is now and what he had to do to accomplish it. Hopefully you go out here and watch the movie and enjoy it as much as I did.

Karios

Karios is a trip all of the Seniors must attend to go graduate. There were five senior leaders, Brandi, Mireya, Alma, Mia, and Nina as well as five juniors that they think are great leaders in their junior class. JaMy’a, Esbeidy, Yaritza, Karina, and Ivonne were the five Juniors that attended. Karios is all about spending time with each other and restoring and helping one another. We opened up and we shared are feelings. We had some laughs and we had some tears. It occurred at Lasalle Manor. Most of the seniors came in with negative attitudes but ended up having an amazing time. The seniors and the five leaders from the junior class arrived on a school bus. The leaders from the senior class arrived at the place wit Mrs.Thompson. They soon got into the spirit. Karios was a great experience for everyone. It was a blast.

We all dressed up in our finniest some people wore stuff that you wouldn’t expect them to wear but we all looked gorgeous.” “You guys will have so much fun.” We’ll see how our dance goes on march 11th.

Tepeyac Hits the Slopes

Today the students and staff of Tepeyac will be going on there ski trip to Wisconsin. They will be returning on Saturday February 12Th. Their will be riding in a coach bus headed to Devils Head Ski resort where the girls can have fun on the slopes and relax and play games when they're all tired out. The students will be able to connect with one another and even talk to some girls they might have never spoken to before their trip. We asked one of our students what she thought of last year's trip. “Its more of what you made out of it because some people were into it and others gave up and just got lazy and for the rest they just pushed themself's to keep going and had lost of fun” -Jackie Herrera

Dress a Girl !!

Come help put a smile on a girl's face by making a dress for them. Any Tepeyac students that would like to volunteer for this school project should see Ms. Lopez. The students and Ms. Lopez will be making dresses of all colors, designs, and sizes, and all the dresses will be sent to the third world countries. The dress making will be taking place at Our Lady of Tepeyac High School in Ms. Lopez's classroom. The preparation classes and lessons will be on Tuesday, February 15,2011. The reason why Tepeyac is doing this school project is because it brings a warm feeling to the girls of all ages, a nice feeling as this would be their first dress. The girls from Tepayac thought of this as an opportunity to give to the people in the third world countries something that they never had before.
