Bears Day :]

Friday, January 21, 2011 was Tepeyac's first Chicago Bears' day. All the students and faculty members had a dress down day. The one rule was that the students and faculty members had to wear navy blue and orange to show their support for the Bears. Students where ecstatic about Bears' day. The seniors where the most excited of all than the other grade levels. The senior class posted Bears' posters throughout Ms. Stephens room, who is a Packers fan. Ms. Cesario had the best Bears' classroom with Bears versus the Packers chess game and her bears poncho.

Tepeyac Vs. North town

By Team 2

On Thursday January 13, 2011. Tepeyac’s basketball team, the Tigers, played a fairly, well game against their rival team, North town. With students, staff, family, and friends all present at the Tiger’s home game, cheering them on until the very end, the Tigers were able to maintain good energy throughout the entire game. Even though the Tigers lost by two points, this game was their best game yet. “The team was a little disappointed and upset because they knew that they could have won the game.” says Brandy. Brandy also lets us know that the Tigers are ready for their next game and we hope that it will be a great victory.

The sophomore is a tradition at Tepeyac and it is a way for the girls to bond, for them to recognize the strength of their class, and have fun at the same time. What's going on AA?

By Team 3

AA the Tepeyac students favorite time. The students at Tepeyac are starting Academic Assistance (AA).
Our resources tell us that the Freshmen did better this time around for AA. Their are only 11 freshman attending AA this quarter. The sophomores did bit better from last time with only 13 students in AA. The Juniors weren’t the best at all this time, they have 17 students in AA. Finally, our Seniors have the smallest amount of students in AA, which is 10 students. With this information we can say that some students need to continue to work hard and others should try a little bit harder. Academic Assistance takes place in room 203 and 204. AA takes place every Tuesday and Thursday after school from 3:00 p.m - 4:30 p.m. Tepeyac offers Academic Assistance so that students can get extra help with problem subjects. It also is offered to help students get better grades and it motivates students to maintain good grades. Some people are against the idea of Academic Assistance, but in the end they enjoy the help from the teachers because they are able to do better in their classes.

Kairos is coming up. Its a retreat that the seniors must go on in order to graduate. As we interviewed a senior, "Brandi" she gave us the inside scoop. It is located in the middle of nowhere, and they will be leaving February 13 and returning, February, 15. She said that "Kairos is when the seniors come together as a class and a way the connect with God." She then went on by saying, "It will give the seniors a chance to be closer to the people they weren't close to, and to reconnect with friends they didnt talk to as much."

Nicki Minaj "Pink Friday"

Nicki Maraj, better known as Nicki Minaj, has become a very dynamic artist in our time, because she uses her music to tell the story of her life, which relates to the lives of many teens today. She recently released her debut album “Pink Friday” December 22, 2010. Her album was ranked a perfect six because of its overall presentation(lyrics, melody). Nicki has worked her way up, ever since she has been in the music industry. In her album she has included many of the most listened to Hip Hop and Rap artist such as Drake, Kanye West, and Eminem. The most popular tracks in her new album are “ I’m the Best”, “ Moment for Life”, and “ Blazin”. In our opinion we think that Nicki Minaj is a very interesting person in the way she expresses herself.
